5 Little Known Facts About Capra Designs

We love the fact that we have been able to share so much of our lives with you - it truly is a privilege. We’ve gotten to know each other pretty well over the years but we like to believe we always have a surprise or two up our sleeves. So in that spirit, we thought it was about time to share these five fun facts that we bet you didn’t know about us!

Planned assembly for making plans

1. Before beginning Capra Designs, Bianca used to run a textile business alongside her best friend Anna Sassi. Since then Capra Designs has been fortunate enough to collaborate with Anna a number of times over the years. In fact, she was instrumental in the design and production of our first ever table linen collection; a collection we are still immensely proud of.

2. Juliette - born and raised in France - had never before driven on the left-hand side of the road and needed to take driving lessons when she first started working with Capra Designs. Her first drive was a trip from Melbourne to Rosebud where our warehouse is based. Although the journey was only a little over an hour it still ranks as one of the most stressful things we’ve done at Capra Designs!
3. In the early days of Capra Designs, Bianca and Julliette took a very intimate approach to the design process. Every Monday they would host a “coffee meeting” during which many important design decisions were made and many more carrot cakes were consumed!

4. A few years ago we had the pleasure of collaborating with Madewell on one of our collections. We are proud to say it was a prosperous and mutually-beneficial partnership and we could not have been any happier with the end products we created. Of course, it also helps that the collection was a huge success!

5. The popularity of the Roma Planter made it famous in the world of designer pots but would it have proved so successful in its initial iteration? Originally the uniquely designed plant pot was supposed to be accompanied by a small planter we called the Sienna. As soon as we saw the early-concept samples we knew the Sienna would never work for us - the dimensions were all wrong. The Sienna never made it to the production stage. It can be a shame when a concept doesn’t quite live up to what you envisioned but we are proud to only offer interior design objects we 100% believe in.

Now you know! We love sharing every step of the process with you. From the early days, the creative process, our inspirations, and even our personal lives. Every aspect represents a piece of the jigsaw that makes us who we are! We believe it is this intimate approach to business that makes our collections the interior design objects of choice for Birthdays, Valentines, anniversaries, housewarming gift ideas, and everything in between.

We hope you enjoyed learning some things that are certainly lesser known about us. We look forward to continuing to share our journeys together!
